The Institue for Training in Rural Entrepreneurship (ITRE) in Mokolo: A response to the socio-professional integration of young people in the extreme northern region of Cameroon
The youth, the backbone of the nation, represent 65% of the Cameroonian population, a majority of which are unemployed.
I, Koda, was once part of this out-of-work youth.
I dreamed of building a beautiful house, eating good food and owning a car...
So I went to the ITRE in Mokolo in 2012 where I got quality general and technical professional training. I was trained just like all of my classmates by experienced mentors, and at the centre by qualified trainers. After four years of training, I defended my first company MPE(Micro Financial Institutions) on corn production and I received a certificate at the end of my training.
During a meeting with the managers of EMFs, I presented my project, which allowed me to get financing.
Soon after, I had my own plot of land, which I value greatly.
The advisory support of the CDD (Diocesan Development Committee of Maroua-Mokolo) helped me get started with my projects.
I started with the production of 2 hectares of corn. After the sale of my corn in July 2016, I began feeding up my sheep. Today, thanks to my training I have a stable life, I have a home and I have a job.
I can confirm what people say: "You enter the ITRE poor and you leave rich" and I encourage other young people to go get training there.
