Description2:

We are Stephanie and Manuel, we study at EFA Dom Fragoso and we learned about the agroecological mandala.
A sustainable way of planting and raising animals. The mandala is a circular space where we grow vegetables, fruits and native plants. In addition, we raise ducks, which help maintain the balance of the system.
The ducks play an important role, as their feces are used as natural fertilizer, helping the plants to grow healthily.

To start the mandala, we first clean the area, leaving everything ready for planting. Then, we make the beds, preparing the soil with organic fertilizer so that it is very fertile.

Irrigation is set up at various points in the mandala, mainly near the duck pond. The water where the ducks swim ends up being used in the beds, bringing more nutrients to the soil.

To avoid pests, we always clean the beds and use manure as fertilizer, helping the plants to stay strong and healthy. The mandala at the EFA ( Agricultural Family school) is important because it provides a large part of our daily nutrition.
