Planting trees in cities - Rondônia Brazil
Hi there, my name is Matheus Sales, I live in the city of Ji-Paraná, Rondônia and am a student at Alejandro Yague Mayor School.
Some time ago I started to wonder why trees are cut down in urban areas. And I found that there is a misconceived idea that trees are incompatible with urban environments. This is not true because with prior planning we can live harmoniously with them.
What is one of the great benefits of planting trees in an urban setting? One example is the well-being of the population, as it contributes to reducing pollution and excessive noise.
Trees, through their leaves, absorb solar radiation which in turn reduces reflection and provides shade.
They reduce the speed of winds and increase the atmospheric humidity which cools the air in cities, in addition to protecting soil and fauna.
The Municipal Prefecture has the responsibility for choosing the species and planting seedlings on public roads.
Before planting, those responsible must evaluate the locations, taking into account the width of sidewalks, existing public equipment, such as: lampposts, gratings, lowered trafiic signs, signposts and the type of road.
In Ji-Paraná, a problem we are having is the heat, which would be alleviated with this type of project. And thus, in addition to enriching the city, it will improve the quality of life of the inhabitants.
