“Country Education, Our Right, State Obligation” “We Exist”
My name is Danilo Rodrigues, a volunteer in the Itiúba Agricultural Family School ( AFS). It arose out of the union and struggles of the men and women farmers, the Rural Workers Union and the alumni of the AFS in Monte Santo.
Its construction began in 2008, but has not yet been totally completed by the public authorities. Classes began in February 2010.
In the AFS we have Elementary School II with the Pedagogy of Alternation Model, where the students spend fifteen days of their time in school and fifteen days at home interacting with the Community.
We promote a contextualised country education, which provides a solid and conscientious training for the sons and daughters of agricultural families.
We have numerous results. We are contributing to changing lives in the semiarid region of Bahia; currently training our fourth group of students who will be attending the Technical Course in Farming; strengthening solidarity by means of the joint works that the families conduct in the school and in the communities.
This is improving co-existence and remaining on the land, thus diminishing rural exodus. The young people are becoming rulers of their own lives and are providing community and family development.
A gift for Comundos
Over the years, Comundos has helped remote communities around the world by teaching critical thinking, media literacy and the use of communication technology.
To do this effectively, we need your support for computers, translations, courses and social media management.
Thank you .
